Law Enforcement Brings Down Construction Equipment Burglary Ring

Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle and Monroe Township Police Chief John McKeown announce the arrest of five persons involved in a construction equipment burglary and theft ring.  Throughout the month of August 2017, the Gloucester Township Police Department began an investigation of thefts of three industrial trailers, along with industrial tools and equipment. 

 

As the result of a two week multi-jurisdictional investigation, on August 28, 2017 Officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department, Monroe Township Police Department, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police, and US Drug Enforcement Administration executed search warrants on two properties in Monroe Township.  The Monroe Township Police Department Entry Team was utilized to safely secure the properties.  Additional assistance was provided by the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit to assist in searching the large property from the air.
 
The investigation led to the arrest of five persons and the recovery of over $75,000 worth of stolen property.  In addition, 2 stolen vehicles, 2 ATV’s (possibly stolen), 2 stolen pistols, 1 sawed off shotgun, and 1 double barrel shotgun, and a quantity of methamphetamines were recovered. 
 
Much of the recovered property has been returned to the owners.  Those arrested were remanded to the Salem County Jail.
 
Charges:
 
Five suspects charged- Criminal Mischief, Burglary, and Theft (over 75,000.00 2nd degree), receiving stolen property, weapons offenses, possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and outstanding arrest warrants for previous offenses.
