Business is Brisk in Beach Haven, Thanks to Reopening Of Surflight Theatre

LBI Theatre and Adjacent Ice Cream Parlour Bring Back
Visitors and Buzz

BEACH HAVEN, N.J.    AUGUST 2, 2017)             The reopening of one of the Jersey Shore’s most beloved theatres, the Surflight Theatre, and its next door ice cream shop, the Show Place Ice Cream Parlour, has invigorated the Long Beach Island town of Beach Haven.

According to Mayor Nancy Taggert Davis, “The Surflight Theatre has brought vigor and life back to Beach Haven. Local businesses, hotels and restaurants are buzzing this season and reporting record business, thanks to the Surflight Theatre reopening. We love seeing huge lines at The Show Place Ice Cream Parlour and welcome the crowds that visit Beach Haven for its charm as a seaside town and home of the iconic Surflight Theatre.”
The Surflight Theatre and its five-building compound are under new ownership by Al Parinello Entertainment LLC, a New Jersey business owned by Garden State native and Old Tappan resident, Al Parinello, who has deep experience in the entertainment and radio space. Parinello brought the business back from bankruptcy after two years of being shuttered.
“I’m delighted to see all the positive impact that the Surflight Theatre’s reopening is having on the town of Beach Haven,” said Parinello. “We are breaking records for both our theatre’s ticket sales and selling more ice cream than ever at the Show Place Ice Cream Parlour next door. This is beyond my hopes and dreams when I bought The Surflight Theatre back a matter of months ago and our entire team couldn’t be happier.”
The Surflight Theatre expects to host nearly 40,000 guests this season, based on advance ticket sales. Its adjacent Show Place Ice Cream Parlour is expected to bring in sales of $300,000, all of which helps support the Theatre’s operations.
For the 2017 season, company and production manager, Gail and Steve Steiner auditioned over 1,300 people for 35 roles in the Surflight’s summer show lineup. For the balance of the 2017 Mainstage summer season, the schedule offer daily performances of:
July 25th - August 13th: Newsies
August 15 - August 27: Hairspray
August 29- September 10: Million Dollar Quartet
“I couldn’t be happier with the full houses we are seeing this summer at Surflight Theatre,” said Mr. Steiner. “Between our theatrical productions, concerts and comedy shows, we are hitting it out of the park this year with record numbers of tickets sold and very enthusiastic audiences.”
Surflight Theatre’s award-winning Children’s Theatre brings some children’s classic to life throughout the summer with productions such as “Cinderella,” “Peter Pan,” “Snow White,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Jungle Book,” and “Winnie the Pooh.” Shows for the summer season running through September 3 beginning at 6:00PM Wednesday through Sunday.
In addition, the Surflight Theatre offers a series of concerts from artists including the Coasters, Drifters and Platters to jazz musicians. Comedy shows are also offered at the Theatre.
