GloucesterTownship Narcotics Investigation Results in Six Arrests

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP--Wednesday July 26, 2017, the Gloucester Township Police Department Special Response Team (SWAT) and the Gloucester Township Police Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at 616 Station Avenue in Gloucester Township after an extended investigation into the distribution of illegal and dangerous narcotics. Law enforcement officers from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, West Deptford Police Department, and the Bellmawr Police Department also assisted with this long term investigation.

A search of the residence was conducted which yielded approximately 3/4 of one ounce of Methamphetamine, a small amount of Heroin, Prescription Pills (Oxycodone, Alprazolam and Hydrocodone), Marijuana under 50 grams, numerous CDS paraphernalia and numerous hypodermic syringes.
The residence was found to be in deplorable and an unsafe condition. Officials from the Gloucester Township Code Enforcement and Community Development Units responded and issued property citations. These officials deemed that the property was unsafe. Gloucester Township Public Works Neighborhood Enhancement Program officials responded to secure and clean up the property.
Officers of the Gloucester Township Police Community Relations Bureau spoke with residents in the neighborhood to help keep them informed and invite them to be our partners in keeping the community even safer.
The Gloucester Township Police Community Outreach Team will be stationed at the Glendora Elementary School located at 201 Station Avenue, in the Glendora section of Gloucester Township on Wednesday, July 26, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Residents are encouraged to bring their children, meet our officers, participate in games, and speak with members of the Community Relations Bureau. The Community Outreach Vehicle initiative was just launched this summer and is a mobile police unit equipped with video and yard games and a meeting room to hear important feedback from community members.
“This is a great example of community policing at its core as this investigation was the result of community tips, and I am thankful for our residents’ patience while we moved forward with this long term and complex undercover investigation. This prolonged investigation, search warrant execution, and multiple arrests serve as an example of the 1st Gear of suppression of our 3rd Gear Policing model. The Gloucester Township Police Department will continue to attack, with the assistance of local, state, and federal partnerships, the abuse and sale of these dangerous drugs. We will also continue to employ our 2nd gear of Prevention and our 3rd Gear of Intervention policing strategies - as the men and women of the Gloucester Township Police Department operating in all three gears have reduced crime overall by 41% since 2010”, said Chief Harry Earle.
