Coast Guard suspends search for swimmer off Point Pleasant Beach

 

PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard suspended its search for a swimmer off Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, Sunday.

The Coast Guard began searching after Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders in Philadelphia were notified by the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department of a missing 24-year-old female swimmer. 

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Air Station Atlantic City, a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet and the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Rollin Fritch home ported in Cape May, New Jersey responded.

 “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones during this extremely difficult time,” said Capt. Scott Anderson, Commander of Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay. “Suspending a search is always a difficult decision and it’s something we don’t take lightly.”
