Wednesday, June 28, 2017
MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. – Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a Burlington City man pled guilty to murder today for fatally shooting a 24-year-old man last year on a crowded city street.
Under terms of the agreement, Samuel James, 27, of the 100 block of Barclay Street, must serve 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole in exchange for pleading guilty to one count of murder.
In Superior Court before the Hon. Jeanne T. Covert, P.J.Cr., James acknowledged firing several shots toward a group of people on August 20, 2016 in the 100 block of East Federal Street in Burlington City. The bullet that struck Byron Turner in the head and ended his life was meant for somebody else, James said.
