Oriah Behavioral Health’s Manage Addiction Lifeline Program Now Covered by Optum

(Lakewood, New Jersey) Oriah Behavioral Health, Inc. announces that its new iPad-based telemedicine protocol for treating opioid addiction, Manage Addiction Lifeline, is now covered by Optum, the behavioral health unit of United Healthcare Group. In this Manage Addiction Lifeline program, patients are connected daily, tracked daily, and participate in a twelve month comprehensive, medication-assisted treatment protocol. Initially, patients participate in an intensive three-month bio-psycho-social protocol, followed by a nine-month recovery/maintenance program that is administered 24/7 via their Lifeline iPad, supported by in-office visits for both patient and caregivers.

Patients engage in weekly video conferences with their physician and therapist, weekly fellowship video conferences, daily health tracking monitored by clinicians, and interactive journaling shared with their therapist. Weekly curriculum, study guides, quizzes and empowerment tools specifically developed to treat addiction are also delivered and interacted with on the patient’s iPad. The Manage Addiction Lifeline’s clinical team utilizes a proprietary HIPAA-compliant back-end EMR platform to analyze and assess patient input, and provide guidance and directives to the patient on a daily basis.

Oriah is committed to helping patients and the medical community achieve better outcomes with greater cost efficiencies in the treatment of opioid addiction which has reached epidemic proportions in the United States. With staggering annual statistics - over 2.5 million addicted, 29,000 deaths by overdose/year, 1,000 emergency room visits per day, and over 50% relapse rates within 90 days of treatment – there is an immediate need to develop more advanced, evidence-based treatment tools. Oriah Behavioral Health has developed this program to meet this need in the delivery of evidence-based treatment and is now at the forefront  of changing the paradigm and giving all stakeholders a lifeline back to an opioid-free life.

Manage Addiction Lifeline’s content, methodologies and protocols were created by Rajiv Juneja M.D, M.S. Dr. Juneja is triple board-certified in adult psychiatry, integrative medicine and addiction medicine, and has specialized in treating opioid addiction for over 15 years. The support of Optum/United Healthcare Group in covering this essential tele-mental health benefit in combination with in-office visits allows innovative treatment to reach many more people who can benefit from this unique long-term delivery of care.
