Atlantic City Man Stabbed to Death

ATLANTIC CITY NJ (March 24, 2017)– An Atlantic City man was stabbed to death yesterday afternoon in Atlantic City, and another man was arrested for the crime, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
In response to a 9-1-1 call received on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 3:32 p.m., Atlantic City Police, paramedics, and emergency medical service personnel responded to a home on the 100 block of Albion Place, Atlantic City.
Upon arrival, police found a man, Daimyen S. Mortimore, 38-years-old, of Kentucky Avenue, Atlantic City, inside the home, the apparent victim of a fatal stabbing. Mortimore was pronounced dead at the scene. Next-of-kin were notified.
Investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department resulted in the arrest in Atlantic City later yesterday afternoon of Faheem Harris, male, 36, who resided at the Albion Place address at which the stabbing took place.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner authorized the charges against Harris of Aggravated Manslaughter—a crime of the 1st degree, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes (knife)—a 3rd degree crime, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (knife)—a 4th degree crime.
Harris was transported to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, where he was processed for the arrest, then lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, by order of Atlantic City Municipal Court Judge Henry L. Warner.

A conviction for a 1st degree crime carries a potential sentence of 10-20 years in prison. The potential penalty for a 3rd degree conviction is 3-5 years of imprisonment, and the potential penalty for a 4th degree conviction is up to 18 months in prison.
