Surrounded by her loving family, Joan A. Jackson, passed away on February 23, Screen Shot 2017-02-25 at 17.55.132017 at the age of 85. Joan was born April 4, 1931 and was the daughter of the late David and Elizabeth Leopold. Joan was the loving wife of 62 years to the late Leroy A. Jackson and loving mother of Leroy A. (Edie) Jackson III, Robert (Jane) Jackson, Suzie (Bill) Green, Trish Jackson, Gary (Donna) Jackson, Tim (Liz) Jackson, Nancy Murphy, Raymond (Karen) Jackson and Sharon (Lou) Underwood. She was the cherished grandmother of Keith, Kevin, Amy, Scott, Tricia, Chrissy, Billy, Lori, Lindsay, Ryan, Michael, Sean, Matt, Kirsten, Lauren, Melissa, Raymond, Steven, Luke, Josh, Maddy and Harry and cherished great-grandmother of Connor, Kylie, Chelsea, William, Sienna, Savannah, Brody, Nicholas, Sophia, Cole, Samantha and Emma. 

Joan was a graduate of Collingswood High School’s class of 1948 and graduated from Cooper Hospital School of Nursing as a RN. Joan loved all the times she spent at the summer shore house in Sea Isle City with her family. She especially enjoyed celebrating High Tea with her daughters, daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren. Joan cherished attending the theater and listening to her favorite show tunes. She always looked forward to her trips to the Mall, shopping at Boscov’s and the Christmas Tree Shop. She was very fond of the friends she made while living at the Woodbury Mews. Above all, Joan adored her husband, Leroy, and cherished the countless hours she spent making memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. These memories will now be theirs to hold forever in their hearts. Joan’s family would also like to extend a special note of appreciation to Melissa, Mary Lou, Crystal and Nicole for the exceptional care provided to Joan during her time on hospice.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 11:15 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 AM in the church. Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
