February 22, 2017 Press Release
The Brooklawn Police Department released the following crime report for the period of January 1 through January 28, 2017
1/1/17 In the area of 5th Street and Lake Drive an officer observed a vehicle with its inside light on, when the officer circled back around the vehicles light was off and he observed a male walking away from the vehicle. The officer stopped the male and through a short investigation was able to determine that the male had entered an unsecured vehicle and removed items. Joshua Giovanni Cruz, 26, of Camden was charged with Burglary and Theft. He was released on his own recognizance with a pending Superior Court Date.
1/9/17 Hector Eric Irizarry, 46, of Bellmawr was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. During the course of the motor vehicle stop the officer observed an empty bag commonly used in packaging crack cocaine. The officer ordered the male out of the vehicle. Once the officer began to place the driver in handcuffs he began to pull away and a brief struggle ensued. After the suspect was placed in handcuffs a search of his vehicle yielded numerous empty bags that were heat sealed and two clear yellow heat sealed bags containing crack cocaine. He was charged with Possession of CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Evidence, and Obstruction. He was released on his own recognizance with a pending Superior Court Date.
1/11/17 Officers responded to the Brooklawn Shopping Center for a male asking customers for money in the complex. Officers located Jake Charles Wade, 24, of North Branch by the Dunkin Donuts. When officers attempted to arrest him he began to tense up and refused to place his hands behind his back. After a brief struggle the accused was handcuffed. He was charged with Defiant Trespasser, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest. He was released on his own recognizance.
1/12/17 Officers observed a motor vehicle run off the road and up a curb in between the East and West Circles. When they made contact with the driver, he informed them that some threw rocks at his vehicle. Officers responded to the railroad tracks above the circles and located two juveniles who admitted to throwing rocks from a top the bridge on the road below. Both were turned over to their parents and subsequently charged with Criminal Mischief 4th degree crime, Obstruction of cars by throwing substance on highway 4th degree crime, and Aggravated Assault 3rd degree crime.
1/13/17 Jake Charles Wade, 24, of North Branch was found to be panhandling at the KFC in the Brooklawn Shopping Center. He was charged with Defiant Trespasser and released on scene.
1/14/17 Robert William Tuttle, 36, of Westville was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Through further investigation the accused was found to be in possession of a small plastic bag containing marijuana, four clear jars containing marijuana and a metal bowl containing marijuana residue. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.
1/17/17 Lisa Danielle Lessig, 21, of Westville came to the Brooklawn Municipal Court, during a security check at the entrance and was found to be in possession of marijuana in her purse. She was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
1/19/17 Officers responded to the Rite Aid for a shoplifter who fled the store. Officers located the suspect near the Metro Diner. William Devon Sherman, 40, of Lawnside concealed a hair product in his jacket. He was charged with shoplifting and was released with a municipal court date.
1/20/17 Dominic Michael Sydnor, 23, of Bellmawr was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Through further investigation he was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and released with a municipal court date.
1/21/17 Officers responded to Shoprite for a shoplifter who was still in the store. Jamie Lynn Morrotto, 31, of Penns Grove was identified by the stores facial recognition system from previous shopliftings on 11/25/2016, 11/19/2016, and 11/12/2016 . She was charged with 3 counts of shoplifting and released with a municipal court date.
1/22/17 An unidentified male and female entered the Rite Aid and stole $147.00 worth of merchandise from the store. The male is described as a black male, wearing a black jacket and black pants. The female is described as a white female wearing a black hat, blue and black sweatshirt with a tan pants. Anyone with any information regarding this incident contact the Brooklawn Police.
1/24/17 William Edward Carney, 46, of West Deptford was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. During the course of the motor vehicle stop the accused was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. The accused was also found to be in possession of numerous bags of crack cocaine, prescription pills without a script, heroin, a crack pipe, and used and unused copper mesh. He was charged with 3 counts of possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and released on his own recognizance.
1/25/17 Officers responded to the Shoprite for a shoplifter in custody. Loss prevention had a Sally Amelia Mansfield, 25, of Brooklawn who concealed $41.00 worth of merchandise in her jacket. She was charged with shoplifting processed and released with a municipal court date.
1/27/17 Officers responded to the Shoprite for a shoplifter in custody. Janine Dava Hillma-Okrem, 46, of Westville filled a shopping cart full of numerous items totaling $413.00 and attempted to exit the store. She was also found to have an active warrant for her arrest. She was charged with a 4th Degree Shoplifting. She was released on her own recognizance with a Superior Court Date.
1/28/17 At the Rite Aid an unidentified white male, with a beard, long hair pulled into a pony tail, wearing a black sweatshirt, green pajama pants and white sneakers concealed numerous cans of baby formula in a grey bag. The accused then exited the store without paying for the items. Anyone with any information regarding this incident please contact the Brooklawn Police Department.
