Obituary | Bertha Hand of Raleigh, North Carolina formerly of Audubon

nee Helmrich) Was taken into the arms of Jesus on January 18, 2017; of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Audubon, NJ. Age 102 years.
Bertha was born on May 16, 1914, the fifth child of Charles and Bertha Helmrich (nee Nitz). She grew up in Camden, NJ and graduated from Cooper Hospital School of Nursing in 1935. After marrying George H. Hand they moved to Audubon, NJ. Bertha worked as a health educator and school nurse for Audubon schools from 1957-1976. After her husband died in 1978, she moved to independent living in Raleigh, NC where she remained until her death.
Bertha was a lifelong member of the Audubon United Methodist Church. All family members were gifted with her lovely crocheted afghans and as a result of world-wide travel, Bertha was able to correctly answer many questions on Jeopardy. Her wise counsel and loving heart will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two children, George H. Hand, Jr. (Marie) of Raleigh, NC and Nancy H. Faussett (Will) of Doylestown, PA. She was blessed to have four grandsons: George Hand, III (Cheryl), James Hand (Connie), William "BC" Faussett (Joanne) and Barry Faussett (Peggy) and four great grandchildren: Megan H. Moore (Jacob), Kati Hand, Nolan and Ian Faussett.
Her graveside service and interment will be private at Bethel Memorial Park, Pennsauken, NJ.
