NEW JERSEY FLU RATES UP FROM LAST YEAR
New Jersey is seeing a flurry of flu cases about two months earlier than the typical onset, according to officials at Hackensack University Medical Center. NJTV says flu rates are highest in the northeast section the state, and there have already been 145 confirmed cases of influenza so far this season.
NEW FEDERAL PROTECTION COMING FOR DELAWARE RIVER BASIN, BUT FUNDING UNCLEAR
A new federal law will provide extra protection for the Delaware River Basin, which is a source of drinking water for millions of people, but those protections may not live up to their promise if Congress fails to appropriate the funds needed to carry them out. NJ Spotlight says the success of the program will depend on whether or not Congress provides funding that will allow local projects to contribute to the overall protective goals.
