Gloucester City police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a car on Essex Street near North Filmore Street when the driver sped away.
DSgt. Carl Depoder and Sgt. Jim Little pursued the vehicle to Louis Street in Camden City, where the driver jumped out of the car and fled on foot. The driver was apprehended by the sergeants with the assistance of a Camden County police officer and taken into custody without further incident.
Rasheem J. Brown (30), a resident of Camden, was charged with possession of CDS (heroin), possession of CDS with intent to distribute, eluding and resisting arrest. He was additionally charged with driving on a suspended license and reckless driving, among other traffic offenses. Brown was also found to be a fugitive from justice wanted by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and had outstanding warrants for his arrest from Camden City. He was later remanded to Camden County Jail pending a detention hearing.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
