Gloucester City Police Arrest Suspect on CDS Charges; 1,250 Bags of Heroin Confiscated

 GLOUCESTER CITY N.J. SEPTEMBER 29, 2016--On Thursday, September 22, 2016 at approximately 4:38 pm officers conducted a traffic stop on Broadway at Morris Street for a traffic violation.  During the course of the stop, the driver of the vehicle was arrested after it was determined he had numerous outstanding warrants.

A K-9 unit was called to the stop to conduct an open air narcotics sniff around the exterior of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert for the presence of narcotics odor. 


Officers impounded the vehicle and applied for a search warrant to search the vehicle.  Later, while executing the search warrant, 1,250 bags of heroin were recovered from the back seat of the vehicle.  Sharon F. Johnson (24), a resident of Newark, was charged with possession of CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance)and possession of CDS with intent to distribute.  He was later remanded to Camden County Jail after failing to post bail.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
