CNB CRIME: Mario Flores of Stratford Charged with the Murder of Roxanne Flores

STRATFORD N.J. FEBRUARY 20, 2016--Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and ImagesStratford Police Chief Ronald Morello announced a borough man has been arrested and charged in the murder of his wife.

Mario Flores, 33, is accused of fatally shooting 35-year-old Roxanne Flores at their Stratford home.

Stratford Police responded at approximately 1:32 a.m. this morning to a residence on the unit block of Wright Avenue in Stratford in reference to a request for a well-being check. Officers entered the home and found Roxanne Flores deceased in her bedroom from a gunshot.

Before police were called to the home, a sergeant on patrol in the area observed a blue Nissan Armada, later determined to belong to Mario Flores, pull out of the Flores residence around 12:50 a.m. and continue eastbound onto Route 30. Detectives spoke with family members and learned Mario Flores had dropped off his young daughter at a relative’s home in Lindenwold at approximately 1 a.m.

According to witness statements, Mario and Roxanne Flores were having marital problems and allegedly had an argument in which a handgun was involved.

During the investigation, detectives received information indicating that Mario Flores was near Alexandria, Virginia, and notified authorities there. Alexandria City Police conducted a vehicle stop and detained Mario Flores at approximately 8 a.m. today.

Mario Flores is charged with first-degree murder and is being held in Virginia while awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
