EDISON—Senior Dana Sensi (Allentown) of the Rider University softball team was voted to the Preseason All-MAAC First Team, it was announced on Monday by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Last season as a junior, Sensi led Rider (12-35, 6-14 MAAC) in every offensive category including batting average (.380), runs scored (33), hits (54), doubles (12), triples (1), home runs (13) RBIs (38) and walks (15) and was a unanimous First Team All-MAAC selection.
In the field in 2015, Sensi compiled a team-high .991 fielding percentage in 43 games at first base, making only three errors in 322 chances.
A MAAC All-Academic honoree, Sensi batted .417 in 20 conference games (25/60) with 12 runs scored, five doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs.
Sensi earned All-MAAC Second Team honors as a Rider rookie in 2013.
A career .335 hitter in 143 games, Sensi enters this season with 142 hits, which is already 26th best all-time at Rider.
In the Preseason Coaches’ Poll, Fairfield University received four first place votes and was picked to repeat as the regular season champion with Rider picked to finished ninth of 11 teams.
Canisius College was picked second, one point ahead of Manhattan College with Iona College fourth, followed by Marist College and Monmouth University.
Under first year head coach Jaclyn Timko, Rider opens play in Rock Hill, South Carolina at the Winthrop Tournament February 26-28.
The home opener is scheduled for 2pm on March 7 at Herb and Joan Young Field against North Carolina A&T.
