For Immediate Release
WOODBURY NEW JERSEY --Darryl J. Senior (DOB 12/14/66) of Williamstown NJ was sentenced today to six years in New Jersey state prison for endangering the welfare of a child, a charge to which he pleaded guilty on 10/5/15, acknowledging he failed to report to the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency that a minor had told him she had been sexually assaulted for years in Monroe Township NJ by a man Senior knew.
In sentencing Senior, Superior Court Judge Robert P. Becker ordered that he must serve 30 months of the prison term before becoming eligible for parole. Senior’s agreement with the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office called for Judge Becker to decide the period of parole ineligibility in a range from 24 to 30 months, and Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Dianna Reed-Rolando today asked for 30 months.
Upon release from prison, Senior will be required to register under Megan’s Law as a sex offender and will be under parole supervision for at least 15 years.
An evaluation at the state’s Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a facility for sex offenders in Avenel NJ, determined Senior was not amenable to serving his sentence at Avenel while undergoing treatment, Judge Becker said.
Sentencing factors favoring incarceration substantially outweighed factors suggesting leniency, the judge said.
Before sentencing, AP Rolando read a letter written by the victim that described the loss of innocence and loss of trust she suffered from sexual abuse.
