24 High School Seniors to Compete for $900,000 in Scholarships and Prizes

 

at Local Automotive Technology Competition

 

WHAT:           24 high school seniors will compete in a hands-on automotive technician skills challenge for more than $900,000 in scholarships, tools and prizes, and the chance to compete at the National Automotive Technology Competition.

 

WHEN:           Friday, February 26, 2016

Competition begins at 8:40 a.m. and runs until 1:10 p.m. Great visuals all day long!

DETAILS:      The 23rd Annual Automotive Technology Competition, produced by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation (the philanthropic arm of the Philadelphia Auto Show), provides the opportunity for elite teams of the finest automotive technical students from Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties and southern New Jersey to work against the clock in a timed, hands-on automotive technical skills competition. Students will test their knowledge at 10 workstations and perform a Pre-Delivery Inspection of a new vehicle. The competing teams are from the following area schools:

 

Berks Career and Technology Center - East

Berks Career and Technology Center - West

Bucks County Career and Technology

Central Montco Technical High School

Delaware County Technical High School

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology

Gloucester County Institute of Technology

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology

North Montco Technical Career Center

Swenson Arts & Technology High School

Universal Audenried Charter School

Upper Bucks County Technical School

The winning duo from this competition will represent the Greater Philadelphia region in the National Automotive Technology Competition at the New York Auto Show in March.

 

Approximately 100 high schools seniors from 18 area career and technical programs last November took a written exam covering eight particular areas of auto technology to qualify for the hands-on competition. The top two students from the top 12 highest-scoring schools advance to the hands-on competition on Feb. 26. More information can be found at caringforkids.com.
