CBP Officers, Canine Find Marijuana in Gas Tank

LUKEVILLE ARIZONA (January 29, 2016)— U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations officers seized 74 pounds of marijuana on Thursday, worth an estimated $37,000, hidden in the fuel tank of a vehicle attempting to enter the United States through Arizona’s Port of Lukeville.

After CBP officers selected a Chevrolet truck for a secondary inspection, a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the drugs. Officers arrested the driver, Monica Manina Wodenscheck, 59, from Pilot Knob, Missouri, and turned her and the drugs over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
