It has also become a hot topic with State, County and local politicians and office holders. Since the idea became public, several governmental and media resources have voiced their opinions on this endeavor and they predict improved services and savings through its’ implementation. The driving forces, they say, behind these efforts is property tax relief for the citizenry of Camden County and a more uniform and affordable way of providing this vital service of law enforcement. It has been made clear in every meeting I’ve attended regarding this issue, that “There is no plan” and that any municipal involvement in the consolidation would be strictly “voluntary”.
