CLAIR TOWNSHIP PENNSYLVANIA (November 29, 2015)--Police Officer Lloyd Reed was shot and killed on Saturday, November 28, 2015 while responding to a domestic disturbance call at a home at 131 Ligonier Street, in New Florence. He was fatally shot by the subject as he arrived at the location. Despite being wounded, Officer Reed was able to return fire and wounded the subject. SOUTH BRUNSWICK NJ (November 28, 2015)--The New Jersey State Police are investigating a crash that occurred in the southbound local lanes of the Turnpike in South Brunswick that injured one man early this morning. Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives determined that at 3:00 a.m., Troy Claffee, 48, of Bronx, N.Y., was slowly driving a Honda Odyssey in the right lane at milepost 77.1. Elliot Remi, 32, of Queens, N.Y., was driving a tractor-trailer in the right lane when he struck the Honda from behind. The tractor-trailer jackknifed in the roadway and became fully engulfed. Remi was able to exit the truck uninjured. The Honda was disabled on the right shoulder. Troy Claffee sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital by ambulance. Had was a 1954 graduate of Collingswood High School where he captained the varsity football and wrestling teams, was a member of the varsity baseball team and also served as class president. He retired as a pipefitter from PhillyShip in 1996. Had received the Brooks Irvine Award and was inducted into the Collingswood High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992. He was a Master Mason and member of Collingswood Cloud Lodge #101. (New York, N.Y. – November 2015) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $69,500 to the New York State Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to help New York City restaurants support sustainable practices and prepare for the impacts of climate change, such as storm surges. “Pollution prevention is some of the most important work being done to protect the environment,” said EPA Regional Administrator Judith A. Enck. “This project will help restaurant owners reduce food waste and reduce the use of pesticides and chemicals, while also conserving energy and water.
