Joe Ruggeri Named Gloucester Catholic Wrestling Coach

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ--Joe Ruggeri has been named Gloucester Catholic head wrestling coach, Athletic Director Patrick Murphy announced.

Coach Ruggeri has served as an assistant wrestling coach in South Jersey for nearly 20 years, including 14 years at Pitman and 5 years at Gloucester Catholic. He has also coached football as an assistant at Woodstown.

A 1971 Glassboro High graduate, Ruggeri earned his Associate's Degree from Camden County College and his Bachelor's from Rutgers-Camden. He is excited taking over as the Rams' head coach.

"Everything I've learned in wrestling, I've learned from the best coaches in South Jersey, such as Wayne Murschell and Bill Cioffi at Pitman and Dan Antonelli at Clayton," Ruggeri said. "I will start here at GC by improving our student participation and then working on strength and conditioning. I want to make sure our kids are supported mentally, physically and spiritually."

Said AD Patrick Murphy: "We are confident that coach Ruggeri will help our wrestling program grow over the long term with his experience and enthusiasm. We are excited to have him as part of the Gloucester Catholic family."
