College Softball: 10 Broncs Honored

LOUISVILLE, K.Y.—10 members of the Rider University softball team were recognized with NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors it was announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on October 7.

To earn recognition, the student-athlete must have earned a 3.50 grade point average or higher.

Recognized from Rider for the 2014-15 academic year were seniors Allysen Breeden, Amanda Irving and Gina McCool, juniors Montana Berg, Dana Sensi and Kim Valdes, sophomores Megan Ailand and Kaitlyn Kallert and freshmen Monica Clark and Samantha Collura.

Overall in NCAA Division I, 1,554 softball players were recognized, including 47 from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with Rider accounting for 21 percent of the conference honorees.

Rider opens the 2016 season at North Carolina A&T February 12-14 in Greensboro.

The Bronc home opener is tentatively scheduled for March 8 at Herb and Joan Young Field, beginning at 3pm.
