PHILADELPHIA, /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) is pleased to host The Future of Philadelphia: A Mayoral Town Hall Debate. To date, Democratic Candidate Jim Kenney and Republican Candidate Melissa Murray Bailey have confirmed their participation, and invitations have been extended to Third-Party Candidates Osborne Hart, Jim Foster and Boris Kindij.
"At United Way, we work with community members from the nonprofit, public and private sectors to change lives and strengthen communities across our region – one child, one adult, one family at a time," said Jim Cawley, president and CEO, UWGPSNJ. "As the Mayoral Race continues, we're proud to have the opportunity to host this important discussion about critical issues that affect the future of all Philadelphians – particularly those that will improve Education, Financial Stability, Health and Basic Needs like food, shelter and safety for our most vulnerable neighbors."
The event will take place on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City (237 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107). WPVI-TV (6ABC) will be moderating the debate, and Urban Affairs Coalition and Economy League of Greater Philadelphia will join United Way as co-sponsors. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the debate will begin at 7:00 p.m. Learn more and register for the event on United Way's Web site.
With the Mayoral election fast-approaching on November 3, 2015, community members can make their voices heard by submitting questions for consideration when they register.
