MEMPHIS TENNESSEE--Police Officer Sean Bolton was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of Cottonwood Road and Perkins Road at approximately 9:15 pm.

Officer Bolton was shot multiple times by one of the occupants of the vehicle, who then fled the scene and remains at large. A citizen used Officer Bolton's radio to call for assistance after he was shot.

Officer Bolton was transported to Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds.

Officer Bolton was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He had served with the Memphis Police 6a00d8341bf7d953ef01bb07cf3abd970d-120wiDepartment since October 2010.
