Gloucester City Police Arrest an Alleged King and Queen on Pot Charges and Other Related Crimes

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ (CNBNEWSNET)--Gloucester City Police on Thursday, August 27 at 8:45 PM arrested two South Burlington Street residents on marijuana charges and other related crimes. One of the suspects, Amanda Mayer, stated that police could not arrest her husband, Sherman Green, age 38, because he is the “king” and “God.” And she is the "queen."
From the police report:
On 08/27 at 2045 an officer observed a male sitting in his vehicle on the unit block of S. Burlington Street playing music at an extremely loud level. The officer approached and observed the male smoking marijuana inside of the vehicle. He was removed and placed under arrest. As officers were placing the male under arrest, the suspect’s wife exited the residence and told officers that what they were doing was wrong because he is the “king” and “God.” She further stated that she was the “queen.”
Sherman Green (38) of S. Burlington Street was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Maintaining a Nuisance, Loud Music and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Amanda Mayer (28) was charged with Maintaining a Nuisance and Maintaining a Disorderly House as said residence has been the source of numerous complaints from residents and students at Gloucester Catholic High School since the beginning of the year for Green harassing any person walking in the area.
On 08/27 at 2101 as officers were clearing the above call, a juvenile male began riding his bicycle around the officers and verbally harassing passers-by. The juvenile was told to stop and was asked for his name. The 15 y/o resident advised officers he doesn’t have to give his information to the police and attempted to ride away after being told to stop. The male was placed under arrest and found to be in possession of marijuana. He was also charged with Hindering his Own Apprehension and released to his mother.
In other matters,
On 08/21 at 2152 an officer stopped a male riding his bicycle in the area of Burlington and Somerset Streets. The male was found to be a wanted person out of Maryland for motor vehicle theft. Morrie Holloway (28) of the 800 block of Little Somerset Street was charged with Being a Fugitive from Justice and remanded to the Camden County Jail.
On 08/21 at 2236 a motor vehicle stop at Jersey Ave and Charles Street led to the arrest of Thomas Myers (41) of the 200 block of Morris Street. Myers was charged with DWI and Refusal to Submit to Breath Tests.
On 08/22 at 1301 a male called 9-1-1 stating he was assaulted by “Howie McDonalds.” The victim (age 29) was punched and knocked to the ground. The victim stated that he and “Howie McDonalds” have had a dispute dating back to high school. No suspect could be located or identified at this time.
On 08/22 at 1645 officers responded to Bertwood Ave for a juvenile complaint. It was reported that a 12 y/o victim was shot with a BB gun by a 9 y/o male. The gun was confiscated and no charges were signed.
On 08/23 at 2337 officers responded to a residence on 6th Street to remove an unwanted person. Upon arrival they observed John Rink (32) of the 300 block of 6th Street yelling at several people. The male refused to calm down and refused to return to his residence. He then told officers, “lock me up then.” Officers obliged and Rink was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
On 08/24 at 1525 officers responded to the Treboro Plaza parking lot on Route 130 for an overdose. The female victim was revived and transported to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle, Heather Reed (40) of Oxford Ave, was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and on an outstanding warrant.
On 08/24 at 1735 a resident of the 300 block of Market Street reported unknown suspect(s) entered her residence and stole her dog while she was napping.
On 08/24 at 2033 officers responded to the WaWa for a reported kidnapping. The male caller stated that he exited the store and discovered his son missing from his vehicle. After several minutes, the caller remembered that he didn’t bring his son to WaWa with him. The caller’s son was located by officers at his residence.
On 08/25 at 1700 hours an officer observed a female yelling and chasing a male in the area of 300 block of Mercer Street. The female was stopped, however, refused to calm down and refused to cooperate with responding officers. Verna Gsell (38) of the 300 block of Mercer Street was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
On 08/25 at 2113 a motor vehicle stop on Essex and Filmore Streets led to the arrest of Adrienne Hunter (22) of the 200 block of N. Willow Street. Hunter was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
On 08/26 at 1203 the manager of Gloucester City Self Storage on Market Street reported unknown suspect(s) damaged the business sign by throwing rocks through same.
On 08/27 at 1822 officers responded to the 400 block of Market Street for a fight. A 17 y/o female reported that she was chased by a male swinging a golf club who fled the area prior to police arrival. The suspect was identified as Harry Espada (34) of Camden City. Espada was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. He was not located at this time.
Additionally, officers responded to 28 domestic violence incidents, 3 motor vehicle accidents, made 33 arrests and conducted 96 traffic stops.
