LAWRENCEVILLE—The Rider University softball team has announced the addition of two players who will continue their athletic and academic careers as members of the class of 2019.
Coming to Rider University this fall are Kiera Swank and Ellie Oruska who signed National Letters of Intent (NLIs).
Swank, is a 5-8 catcher/outfielder from Bear, Delaware (Caravel Academy) where she was a three-year starter and team captain for the perennial state champions as an All-State honoree.
“Kiera has a good bat,” said head coach Tricia Carroll who just completed her 21st season at Rider. “She will definitely fight for playing time at both positions.”
Oruska is a 5-6 first baseman, third baseman and outfielder who comes to Lawrenceville from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.
“Ellie played primarily first base in high school,” Carroll said. “She has a big bat and we expect her to be a player that opposing pitchers aren’t going to want to pitch to.”
For Garnet Valley, Oruska was an All-Central Team selection, leading her squad in extra base hits and home runs three years in a row.
“We are excited about both these players,” said Carroll. “They both come from good high school and travel programs. They are well coached and ready for the college game and we are excited to see both in a Bronc uniform.”
Swank and Oruska join Amanda Jordan, Alexa Feliciano and Maddy Chain who signed National Letters of Intent in January.
