Dwelling Fire In Gloucester Township Results In Injuries

On 05/05/2015, at approximately 7:19 PM, the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the 200 block of Hobart Drive for a dwelling fire with possible entrapment. First arriving officers reported smoke conditions coming from the residence. One neighbor, who attempted to extinguish the fire, was located outside the residence suffering from smoke inhalation. Officers along with EMS personnel attempted to enter the residence to locate any additional victims but were driven back by heavy black smoke. All occupants were accounted for and were out of the residence.

Fire department personnel from Chews Landing, Blackwood and Runnemede extinguished the fire shortly after arrival. Virtua Medics along with the Gloucester Township EMS Alliance responded and assisted in the incident. The Gloucester Township Fire District #4 Fire Marshal is currently investigating the incident.

Two Gloucester Township Police officers and one resident suffered smoke inhalation. The officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment and were later released. The resident refused medical attention. The Red Cross was notified and responded to assist the homeowner.
