in Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey Contest
NEWARK, NJ – Over 8,000 New Jersey fourth grade students want their peers to get a substance abuse prevention message- that there are fun things to do instead of doing drugs --- and, they created messages and artwork to deliver that message.
The students from fourth grade classrooms across New Jersey created artwork as part of a contest to deliver the most effective peer-to-peer substance abuse prevention messages in a initiative sponsored by the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ). The theme of this year’s contest was “Fun Things to Do Instead Of Doing Drugs.”
On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 30 finalists will be honored and have their artwork on display, at an awards ceremony at the Newark Museum’s Billy Johnson Auditorium, 49 Washington Street, Newark, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Two of the 30 finalists will be announced as this year’s grand prize winners during the ceremony.
The grand prize winners will have their peer-to-peer substance abuse prevention message featured on 35,000 folders that will be distributed schools throughout New Jersey in September 2015.
Best known for its statewide anti-drug advertising campaign, the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey is a private not-for-profit coalition of professionals from the communications, corporate and government communities whose collective mission is to reduce demand for illicit drugs in New Jersey through media communication. To date, more than $70 million in broadcast time and print space has been donated to the Partnership’s New Jersey campaign, making it the largest public service advertising campaign in New Jersey’s history. Since its inception the Partnership has garnered 120 Advertising and Public Relations Awards from National, Regional & Statewide Media Organizations.
