CNB CRIME: GTPD Investigation Finds CDS, Stolen Handgun

Gloucester Township NJ On Saturday, February 21, 2015, the Gloucester Township Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Hampshire Road for a report of a disturbance. Upon the officer’s arrival, Sgt. Mazzarella #198 with the Operations Response Unit, stopped a vehicle that was fleeing from the scene where a Richard Caruso 2nd was detained for investigation purposes.
The investigation revealed that over two days Richard Caruso 2nd assaulted the pregnant victim and held a gun to her head several times while threatening to kill her as he was reportedly using illegal drugs. The accused, Richard Caruso 2nd, also threatened to kill the victim if she notified the police.
The Gloucester Township Police Investigations Bureau - Criminal Investigations Unit responded to the scene to assist. Recovered at the scene was a loaded 9mm hand gun with hollow point bullets, which was stolen from another state, a large quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, packing material, and a quantity of currency.
The accused, Richard Caruso 2nd, was charged with the following criminal offenses and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in default of $350,000 full cash bail:
(2) counts possession of a handgun, (2) counts possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess a weapon, possession of hollow point rounds, receiving stolen property, (2) two counts aggravated assault, (2) counts simple assault, criminal restraint, (4) four counts endangering the welfare of a child, witness tampering, (2) counts threaten to kill, distribution of CDS, distribution of CDS in a school zone, possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession CDS with intent to distribute with a firearm.
