LINDENWOLD MAN CHARGED WITH STRICT LIABILITY FOR A DRUG-INDUCED DEATH

CAMDEN CITY NJ (January 23, 2015)Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo reported a Lindenwold man has been charged for selling heroin to another man who later died of a drug overdose.
Kevin Croxton, M/26, was charged Thursday with first-degree Strict Liability for a Drug-Induced Death.
The victim, a 29-year-old Laurel Springs man, was found dead at his residence April 6, 2014. The cause of his death was determined to be from the adverse effects of drugs.
During the course of the investigation, Croxton was identified through cell phone records and other evidence as the person accused of selling the heroin to the victim. Investigators determined the alleged drug deal happened in Lindenwold mere hours before the victim’s death.
Croxton was also charged with three third-degree crimes: Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS), Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute within 1,000 Feet of School Property.
Croxton faces up to 20 years in prison on the Strict Liability for a Drug-Induced Death charge alone.
He is currently in the Camden County Jail on unrelated charges.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
