GLOUCESTER CITY NJ--Mrs. Laraine “Rainie” Smolinski, of Gloucester City, died Saturday y
afternoon, November 22, 2014 at Cooper University Hospital from injuries sustained in a fire that destroyed her house located at 316 Highland Blvd.
The second victim of the fire, a 27-year-old female previously reported to be in critical but stable condition, was treated at Cooper and discharged Sunday.
Investigators believe the fire, which occurred on Friday, November 21, around 11:30AM was accidental in nature. The cause of the fire remains undetermined pending further investigation.
Mrs. Smolinski was predeceased by her parents Thomas Lennox and Mary Lennox (nee Pacimo) and her husband, the late Benjamin R. Smolinski. She is survived by her daughters Laraine Speyerer and Christine Madiraca. Grandmother of Sandra, Michael, Melissa, Christine, Sara and Johnny. Beloved great-grandmother of 8 and one more coming on the way. Sister of Thomas Lennox and predeceased by her twin sister, Bernadette Wright. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, cremation is private and there are no services.
Memorial donations are being strongly requested to assist the family in returning to their home. The devastation of the fire has caused the Smolinski family to lose everything they own.
