Assemblyman Coughlin and the Big 'I' Spearhead Motor Vehicle Electronic Identification Bill in New Jersey

The Bill (A-3905) has been proposed for introduction and currently awaits committee referral. Trenton, NJ – The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New Jersey, sometimes referred to as the Big ‘I’, and Assemblyman Craig Coughlin (D-19) have introduced a bill (A-3905) that would allow operators of motor vehicles to provide electronic proofs of insurance on smart phone devices. New Jersey is one of five states nationwide that disallows the use of electronic I.D.s when operating a motor vehicle. Currently, motor vehicle operators must provide to a police officer or judge a traditional, paper insurance I.D. card. In an effort to provide a more commonsense approach to the auto insurance process in the Garden State, the Big ‘I’ and Assemblyman Coughlin have proposed to the state legislature a bill that would allow insurance identification cards to be displayed electronically on smartphones, tablets, or computers. Under the bill, all electronic proofs... Read more →

Thought for the Day: Take each person for what they are and look for the good in them

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. 'I am ashamed of myself,... Read more →

Smith said. “I view this with a good deal of seriousness.” Still’s lawyer asked for him to be released on his own recognizance in order to have him placed in a rehabilitation facility. KAISER HEALTH NEWS: Big Bills for Medical Treatment in E.R. Surprise Some Patients

Kaiser Health News “In-network” and “out-of-network” – for people with health insurance, those words mean one thing: money. If you don’t want to get charged extra, you get your treatment done in-network. It sounds straightforward, but sometimes it doesn’t work out that way, even when patients think they’re playing by the rules. Jeffrey Craig Hopper, a probate attorney in Austin, Texas, knows all about following the rules. Still, accidents happen. Last June he was coaching a Little League practice session when an errant baseball smashed into his face. His wife Jennifer Hopper remembers rushing to the field. “His eye was swollen shut enough that we weren’t sure if he could see,” she said. Even in that moment of panic, Jennifer made absolutely sure to drive him to a hospital in Austin that was part of their insurance network. In the end, Jeffrey was okay.
