Bail stands in guns for heroin case
WOODBURY NJ (November 14, 2014)--Kyle Still (DOB 3/12/85) was denied a reduction in his $50,000 bail today by a judge who said charges that the Gibbstown NJ man had sold his father’s guns for heroin in Camden NJ is a “very serious” example of how weapons are illegally obtained.
“If you’re wondering how weapons get into the hands of criminals, this is exactly it,” Superior Court Judge Kevin T. Smith said. “I view this with a good deal of seriousness.”
Still’s lawyer asked for him to be released on his own recognizance in order to have him placed in a rehabilitation facility. Judge Smith said any further reduction in Still’s bail would be “highly inappropriate.” His original $100,000 bail had been lowered on an initial review based on his limited contact with the criminal justice system, the judge said.
Still was charged in Greenwich Township on 11/3/14 with possessing or obtaining suspected heroin, theft and possessing, receiving or transferring a gun, “specifically by trading three of his father’s revolvers for four bundles of heroin.”
