The College of Saint Elizabeth will be commemorating Kristallnacht during the week of November 10, 2014. All events are free to the public.
Event: Survivor Testimonies: Remembering Kristallnacht and Beyond.
Who: Two Livingston, N.J., residents who experienced Kristallnacht as children in Germany. Gerda Bikales, author of Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death: A Holocaust Childhood and a policy analyst and lobbyist; and Norbert Bikales, Ph.D., a chemist, U.S. diplomat and a board member of the World Federation of Jewish Child Survivors of the Holocaust and the Holocaust Council of Greater Metro West are the honored speakers.
When and where: Monday, November 10, 2014, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Dolan Performance Hall on the College of Saint Elizabeth campus.
Event: Interfaith Dialogue after the Holocaust: What? Why? How?
Who: A conversation among spiritual leaders will include Pastor Murdoch Macpherson of Faith Lutheran Church in New Providence; Reverend Jeff Markay of Chatham United Methodist Church; Reverend Anthony Randazzo of Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church in North Caldwell; and Rabbi Alan Silverstein of Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell.
When and where: Thursday, November 13, 2014, beginning at 7:30 in the Dolan Performance Hall on the College of Saint Elizabeth campus
Event: Week of in-class faculty sessions Monday, November 10 to Friday, November 14, 2014
What: Testimonies of survivors of both the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocides, film screenings, music, ethical aspects of genocide and trends in bias crimes are the featured classes.
