Surrounded by his loving family, James passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2014 at the age of 82.
Loving husband of 57 years to Jane L. Spencer (nee Swindell). Loving father of James Spencer (Sue), Patricia Grieski (late Jay), John Spencer (Gina) and Robert Spencer (Kim). Cherished grandfather of James, Jr., Lynda, Felicia, Damien, Gabrielle and Joshua and great grandfather of 6. Beloved son of the late Joseph and Catherine Spencer. Predeceased by his brothers William, John (late Mary), Joseph (late Ann), Daniel (surv. Marie) and Matthew Spencer (surv. Jackie). Also survived by his lifelong friends Henry Murphy and Vince Reed.
James was a 1950 graduate of Gloucester Catholic. He proudly served our country as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. James retired after 30 + years as a crane operator for Holt Cargo. He was a longtime member of the VFW in Gloucester City. James enjoyed playing shuffle board, softball, pool, golf and was an avid Phillies fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday morning, September 26, 2014 from 9 to 11 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM in St. Mary’s Church: 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City.
Interment with military honors in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
