GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP-- On September 24, 2014 at approximately 10:53 AM, the Gloucester Township Police Department (GTPD) responded to York Terrace for a report of several suspicious males walking around a residence. Officers quickly arrived and were confronted by one of the residents as he ran from the home and told them that people had broken into his house, assaulted him and were still inside.
Two male suspects were taken into custody, and it was reported that one other subject had fled on foot that resulted in several nearby schools being placed in a precautionary "LOCKOUT," which is a school security procedure that secures the building perimeter from an external threat, while normal school activities occur inside the school. GTPD officers also responded to the schools as school officials quickly secured the school. After a search of the area for the possible suspect, approximately one hour later the LOCKOUT was lifted and normal school activities resumed.
There are two males in custody at this time for robbery and additional charges will be pending. The investigation is still ongoing at this time by the GTPD Investigations Bureau. An updated media release will be issued as soon as further details are available.
