CRIME: York County man arrested after traveling to meet 14-year-old "girl" for sex

HARRISBURG - Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced the arrest of a York County man accused of posting an online advertisement for sex and then traveling to a location in Dauphin County to meet who he believed was a 14-year-old girl.
According to the criminal complaint, agents, conducting an investigation into online advertisements that solicit sex from children, responded to an ad allegedly posted by Malcolm
Winland, 61, 3086-B Staunton Ave., Dover. 
The charges state that Winland propositioned the teen for sex, sent a picture standing in his underwear and described in graphic detail the sexual acts he wished to perform on her - even noting that he wanted to get a motel once they met in person.
Winland was arrested on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, when he arrived at a predetermined meeting location to meet the young girl. He is charged with one count of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of criminal attempt to commit statutory sexual assault and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.
He was held in the Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 8, 2014.
Attorney General Kane thanked the Swatara Township Police Department for their assistance with the investigation. The case will be prosecuted in Dauphin County by Senior Deputy Attorney General Christopher Jones of the Office of Attorney General's Child Predator Section.
