WILLIAMSPORT PA (August 17,2014)--Sunday was a rough outing for Jared Sprague-Lott, but Mid-Atlantic still managed to pull out a 7-6 victory over Southwest in six innings at Lamade.
Sprague-Lott allowed five in 4 1/3, but the bullpen gave up one run and the offense banged out nine to pick up the slack and secure the win for Mid-Atlantic.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to four lead changes in the game.
Mid-Atlantic finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. An error scored Zion Spearman and gave Mid-Atlantic the lead for good.
Spearman put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Mid-Atlantic. He doubled in the fifth inning and tripled in the sixth inning.
Erik Lipson got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He tossed two-thirds of an inning of shutout ball. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered no hits.
Landon Donley was charged with the loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
Mid-Atlantic jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Mid-Atlantic's threat began with a double by Jahli Hendricks. A groundout by Sprague-Lott then moved Hendricks from second to third. Mid-Atlantic added more runs when Spearman scored on an RBI single by Mo'ne Davis.
After a quick strike from Southwest, Mid-Atlantic responded with one run in the third. Mid-Atlantic scored on an RBI single by Sprague-Lott.
Mid-Atlantic matched its two-run fifth inning with two more in the sixth. In the fifth, Mid-Atlantic scored on an RBI double by Spearman, scoring Sprague-Lott.
