(Camden, NJ) – Camden County Police Department Officer Anthony Rodriguez arrested a suspect early Wednesday who was in possession of two illegal handguns.
Officer Rodriguez was on directed patrol addressing quality of life issues in Bergen Square near the corner of Ramona Gonzalez Street and Princeton Avenue just after 1:20 a.m. Officer Rodriguez engaged suspect Luis Jones, 21, of Camden, to investigate. Jones ran from the area and was apprehended after a short pursuit. During the apprehension, Jones was found to be in possession of two handguns – a loaded, semi-automatic .32-caliber Keltec stolen out of Wichita, Kansas; and a loaded Ruger .22-caliber revolver.
Jones was charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and one count of Receiving Stolen Property. He was remanded to the county jail with bail set at $100,000 cash or bond.
