Mr. William A. Ashmen Jr., WWII Navy Veteran, Gloucester City High School Alumnus

A vibrant, honest and supportive gentleman, William lived life to the fullest and always had a positive look on life. He was devoted to his family but next to his family, golf was his passion. He also enjoyed a good game of scrabble, going to the casinos, tinkering with things, watching movies and keeping up on the latest technology. His philosophy was that there was always something new to learn.

Born in Gloucester City, William was a long time resident of West Deptford and a graduate of Gloucester City High School. William was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II serving from May 1945 – July 1947. He was a member of the Westwood Country Club and Riverwinds where he shot pool weekly and belonged to the Bridge group.

Beloved husband of the late Isabel F. (nee Staake); Devoted father of Sandra L. Mazzagatti and stepfather of William M. Dixon III, Jack S. Dixon and Frances E. Dalton; Cherished grandfather to Peter Sr., Timothy W. Jr., Trey, Derrick, Shannon, Alex, Jack, Kelly, and Daniel; Treasured great grandfather of Peter Jr.; Dear brother to Debbie DiCamillo, Betty DeMore and Greta Ashmen.

Viewing Monday 10 – 11:00 AM at McGUINNESS FUENRAL HOME, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ 08096 where the Lifetime Celebration will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment Woodbury Memorial Park, West Deptford.
