(Photo credit: Wikipedia) PHILADELPHIA, June 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A jury has awarded a record-setting $55.3 million to a man who became a quadriplegic after his 1999 Acura Integra, which is manufactured by the Honda Motor Company, rolled over and his seatbelt failed to prevent his head from striking the roof. It depends, says PIANJ Trenton, NJ – Whether you buy coverage from a rental agency or use your own car insurance coverage, it's wise to make certain you have enough insurance to pay for costly repairs if you suffer an accident in a rental car, says the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey. "When renting a car, consumers should be ready to decide on insurance coverage before reaching the service counter," says Glenn Tippy, CIC, CPIA, PIANJ president. "A check with their agent or auto insurance company on whether their policy covers rentals can help make the decision." Consumers need to know that some policies may not cover rentals on business trips and may have other limits. Consumers with a policy that doesn't offer rental car coverage may want to consider paying the small fee for adding an insurance rider. Coverage on a New Jersey personal auto policy follows the... Activists call it barbaric, though judges and prosecutors have said it breaks no animal cruelty laws. Sen. Rich Alloway, R-Adams, counts himself among the traditional sportsmen against the practice. He called it a wasteful "blood sport" before voting for the ban during a meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday. "I hunt for my family. I eat what I kill," said Alloway. "If I shoot something and injure it and I can't find it, it drives me crazy because I know that I hurt that animal and it's going to go to waste." The bill will go to the full Senate for consideration, though Sen. John Eichelberger, R-Blair, found it odd to see... Read more →

Remembering Mississippi Burning

The burned interior of the station wagon that was discovered following the disappearance of activists Michael Schwerner, James Chaney, and Andrew Goodman. A Byte Out of History 50 Years Since Mississippi Burning 06/20/14 Fifty years ago, our country was in the midst of a struggle to extend full rights and liberties to all of its citizens. On the national stage, the long legislative fight on the landmark Civil Rights Act was nearing a conclusion. Regionally, the push to roll back odious Jim Crow laws led to demonstrations between opponents of the legal discrimination and supporters of the status quo. In Mississippi, the center of the civil rights effort in 1964 was the Freedom Summer, in which committed activists and local residents encouraged African-Americans to register to vote—fewer than seven percent of those eligible were registered at the time. Runnemede, NJ (Grassroots Newswire) June 24, 2014 - With Memorial Day having just passed, and July 4th just around the corner, many children can easily mistake these national holidays (and others) as just another reason to celebrate. Synonymous with backyard barbecues, parades, and bright, colorful firework displays, the Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, is anything but your average holiday. While celebrating is wonderful, we need to ensure that children understand the history that is behind the festivities that occur on our national holidays. Tony Serrano, Franchise Owner of Kiddie Academy of Runnemede, an educationally focused child care provider in Runnemede, believes that it’s important for children to learn about history – on a national, local and family level – and to help children understand that each of them is, in fact, a living part of that history. “Taking this view of history makes that common childhood question...
