What Are We Paying These People For?

I  just received the "April Newsletter - New Jersey's 4th Legislative District,"  which I have been trying to un-subscribe to for the last couple of years. I emailed a question to their  website a few years ago –which they never responded to – and now I can't get off their mailing list. They get around the spam filters by switching their sender's address.

I took a peek and scanned the following headlines:

FRED MADDEN BILL TO PROTECT PETS, WILDLIFE FROM ANTIFREEZE POISONING CLEARS COMMITTEE

FIGHTING THE WAR ON POVERTY
Editorial by Assemblywoman Gabriela Mosquera

I just read in nj.com that there's a "gaping $807 million hole in the state budget. Warnings that the state may not be able to make its promised pension payments. The threat of slashing property-tax rebates or school funding. And yet another downgrade of New Jersey’s already-low credit rating ..."

According to the article , New Jersey has the county's second worst private sector job growth the last 5 years.

And this is all our 4th District legislators can come up with? How about  trying to balance the budget and stop spending money we don't have.

Someone tell Gabby that we have sunk trillions into the War On Poverty since LBJ's Great Society, and there's already a paper on it from the White House http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/docs/50th_anniversary_cea_report_-_final_post_embargo.pdf.
No doubt, her solution will require spending more money on more government programs in order to keep the party's machine running.

And Fred was the guy who crafted "Schultz's Law," that landmark feel-good legislation mandating a 5 year sentence without parole for anyone killing a police dog. One of the reasons why New Jersey's budget is in a $807 million dollar hole this year is because double and triple dippers like Gabby and Fred game the system, pulling down multiple government pensions and jobs.

There's a reason why the middle and upper classes are fleeing New Jersey.
