Male Surrenders To Police After Barricading Himself With Firearms In A Storage Unit : Nixle

RUNNEMEDE NJ (May 24, 2014)--Officers from the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the South Jersey Self Storage facility on a request from the Runnemede Police Department in an attempt to locate a subject who may have had a change in mental status. Officers confirmed that the subject was at the facility and when they approached the subjects unit, they discovered that the male had barricaded himself inside of the 10' X 8' storage unit. Officers immediately established a perimeter around the unit and placed a nearby business in a "Shelter-In-Place" for the safety of the workers while the incident progressed. Contact was also made with family members who stated that the male may be in possession of several firearms.
