GLoucester Township Police NIXLE Media Release:

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP (April 25,2014)-Sixteen apartments were evacuated this afternoon as fire crews worked to extinguish a late afternoon fire at the Millbridge Garden Apartments. Police officers arrived on location to find a heavy smoke and fire condition coming from a second floor apartment in the 800 Building. Officers then went door to door in the building to evacuate any residents that may have been home.

Fire personnel from the Chews Landing, Blackwood, Lindenwold, Runnemede, Lambs Terrace and Deptford Fire Departments arrived on location and quickly knocked the fire down. One firefighter sustained a knee injury while on the fire ground and was transported by GTEMS to Virtua Hospital Voorhees, NJ for treatment. The firefighter is expected to be released.

All residents were allowed to return to their apartments with the exception of two residents. Their apartments sustained fire or smoke and water damage. They were placed in alternate housing by the management of the apartment complex.

The cause of the fire is under the investigation by the Chews Landing Fire Marshals office and the Gloucester Township Police Department.
