BROOKLAWN NJ--Former Brooklawn Borough Councilman Thomas C. MacAdams, age 60, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, after a long, courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and Fronto-temporal Dementia (FTD). Tom fell asleep and woke up in heaven with his Maker.
Tommy was the much-loved husband of 34 years to Marie MacAdams (nee Thomas); devoted father of Shane (Becca), Colin (Kyrstlin), and Erin; adored son of Jeep (Helen) MacAdams, predeceased by his mother Norma; cherished brother of Jeanne, Ken (Patti), and Scott (Patty) MacAdams; and caring uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Tommy MacAdams (GHS class of ’71) was best known for his sociable, warm personality; first-ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was an active member in the small town of Brooklawn, since 1984, which he liked to call “God’s Little Acre.” With his giving nature and love of Brooklawn, he was the founder of many organizations that make up the tight-knit community, such as the Brooklawn Christmas Spirit, the Brooklawn Drug Alliance, the Brooklawn Wiffleball reunion, the Brooklawn Bees Basketball League, and the Brooklawn Lady Bugs Summer League. In addition to serving the Brooklawn council for 18 years, Tom has been an active supporter of the Brooklawn Little League, Legion, and all community events. With thoughtfulness and enthusiasm, Tom cherished many wonderful years with his family and long-time friends Bruce (Jill) and family, Sharon Harding, along with many more. He was at his happiest when surrounded by loved ones, watching Oklahoma football. Anyone who wishes to honor Tommy can do so by simply extending care and kindness to somebody else. His contagious personality, kind heart, and radiant smile will never be forgotten.
Relatives, Friends, residents of Brooklawn and all organizations are kindly invited to his visitation on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Brooklawn United Methodist Church: 213 Maude Ave. (at Hannevig), Brooklawn, NJ. Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 PM in the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Thomas MacAdams Charitable Fund: 229 Nansen Ave., Brooklawn, NJ 08030, which will fund an annual Gloucester High Scholarship and the Brooklawn Christmas Spirit.
