The Race has raised more than $100,000 over the past decade, all used to send underserved Lawrence Township children to the Lawrenceville School Camp, a residential summer camp in Warren County, N.J. Race participants are also encouraged to bring canned food items, which will be donated to local non-profits fighting hunger.
The starting gun for the adult five-kilometer course will fire at 10:15 a.m., rain or shine. Races, ranging from 25 meters to a half mile, will be available for kids ages 3-11 starting at 9:00 a.m.
Participants are encouraged to pre-register by April 28 to receive a 2014 Big Red Race t-shirt. There is a $20 non-refundable entry fee for adults; $25 on race day. The non-refundable entry fee for runners ages 12-17 is $10; $15 on race day. A food donation will also serve in lieu of a $5 entry fee for runners under age 12, each of whom will receive a finisher's medal and a t-shirt. Tickets for the Big Red Raffle will also be on sale. A host of awards are up for grabs, including a special treat for the Lawrence Township family with the most participants in the Adult 5K and Kid's Race.
