Social Media Tipsters Lead To Apprehension Of Gas Thief

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP--On February 17th, 2014 at approximately 9:15 AM, the Gloucester Township Police Department (GTPD) began an investigation into the theft of gas from the Citgo Station located on the Black Horse Pike in Blackwood. Investigating officers obtained video surveillance of the suspect's very distinctive vehicle, a late 1970's blue Ford Ranchero with a white cap. The suspect was described as a stocky Hispanic male with dark hair wearing a plaid shirt and blue jean.
As the investigation continued, a photo of the suspect vehicle was broadcast via several of the Gloucester Township Police Department's social media outlets. As a result, the GTPD was contacted from several tipsters to include one particular call from an off duty corrections officer who observed the vehicle parked along Evesham Road in Gloucester Township. On February 18th , 2014 several officers responded to the area and observed a male subject fitting the description approach the vehicle. He was ultimately taken into custody and successfully charged with the theft of gas.
Arrested:
John Gerogiorgis, age 31, of the 1300 Block of Hancock Drive in Barrington, NJ.
Charged with Theft and released on a Criminal Summons.
