GLOUCESTER CITY NJ (December 10,2006)--The demolition of the GAF paper mill and the Vanquard Warehouse at Charles and Water Streets, Gloucester City is nearly finished. As of Friday, December 8 when these photos were taken, all that remains of the Vanquard warehouse is the frame and as you see most of the GAF mill is gone. Work has recently started on demolishing the old GAF power plant.
Once the land is cleared Beazer homes plans to build townhouses and condominiums on the site, calling it Meadowbrook II. The builder is constructing Meadowbrook 1 on the grounds of the old Starlite Drive In, Rt. 130 and Klemm Avenue, also in Gloucester City.
The company was recently cited by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) on charges stemming from another site it is constructing in the state. Beazer denies any wrong doing. See story Beazer charged with violating wetlands permits.
