I just finished reading Bill Cleary's farewell article. I'm so sad; Bill is a personal friend of mine and I will miss his blog very much. Bill reached out to me when I first moved to Gloucester City, 3 years ago. He came to the ribbon cutting when I opened Brother of the Wolf and to my husband's funeral the following year. He was one of the very few Gloucesterites that showed up at the funeral or offered condolences, and I have since severed ties with many people because of that.
Bill has been more than a friend--he has been a mentor and a guiding light, not just to me but to the many folks that have read and written without fear of retribution.
I am still here. I will continue writing for as long as I am able and will work with dogs at reduced fees or at no cost to anyone that is financially unable to care for their pets. Hopefully, my Pet Tip of the Week will still appear in the Gloucester City News and my Just Sayin' column will too. However, a part of me will be painfully wrenched away tomorrow, when Bill Cleary's beacon of light will be dimmed, forever.
Please stay in touch, Bill and Connie. I will always love and respect you. If you change your mind, I'll step up to assist you, to take some of the load off of your shoulders. Just give me a call and I'll be there for you, as you have been for me since the day I met you.
Wado udohiyu, (thank you very much in the Cherokee language)
