Coach John Kidd talks to his 130 lb team after Saturday's loss
WESTVILLE NJ--Last weekend, the Gloucester Mustangs traveled to Westville to face the Gators. The 60s scored early and often enroute to a 34-0 keeping their record unbeaten. Ryan Malone led Gloucester with two TDs and an extra pt. Anthony Capano added a TD and two extra pts, and Mason Widman & Donovan Robinson each added a TD and Liam Nixon added another extra pt. The defense added another shutout improving to (5-0).
The 80s also stayed undefeated with a 32-0 victory over the Gators giving them their second loss of the season. Gloucester moved to (5-0), led by a stingy defense who pitched their second shutout in as many weeks. The starting defense included Aydan Hagan, Hector Sanchez, Maddox Zane, John Daily, Justice Dolson, Kaleb Wright, Jason Allen, Josh Dockery, Leo Curran, Derek Levins, Jacob Zearfoss, & Dom Ryan, who combined to hold Westville's offense down all night. Jacob Zearfoss had 5 TDs & an extra pt and John Daily added an extra point to round out the scoring.
The 95s suffered their 4th straight loss at the hands of perennial power Westville. The Gators jumped out on Gloucester early, and the Mustangs couldn't muster up enough offense to get on the board losing 35-0. Quarterback Cody Bathurst completed a couple passes, but it wasn't enough for Gloucester. The Mustangs defense, who have been plagued by injuries hung tough in the 2nd half, led by Dylan Pinto, Michael Morrell, & Chris Dolson. The 95s record moved to (1-4).
The 110s had an epic battle with the one loss Gators. It was a defensive battle through 4 quarters and both teams were still dead locked at zero. Gloucester RB Joey Pinto carried the load for the Mustangs, but the offense couldn't break paydirt. The Gators scored their lone TD in overtime on their way to a 6-0 victory. Both teams look forward to a possible playoff rematch in a few weeks. The 110s moved to (3-2) on the season.
The 130s suffered their 3rd loss of the season to the defending champion Gators 31-0 moving their record to (2-3). Gloucester was inside the redzone multiple times, but couldnt cross the goal line. A questionable interception ended one of their drives, and the Mustangs just couldn't regain the momentum.
