(Camden, NJ) – Officers on directed patrol in Waterfront South Thursday night arrested three suspects, including one in possession of a loaded handgun and another in possession of drugs and illegal brass knuckles.
Officers Troy Redd, Allen Williams and Scott Breland were patrolling on the 400 block of Viola Street at 10:09 p.m. and approached a group of five men, one of whom was openly drinking alcohol. Suspect Felix Martinez, 30, of Camden, turned away from officers, placed something in his waistband and walked away. Officers engaged Martinez and found him to be in possession of a stolen 9 mm Springfield Armory handgun loaded with 10 rounds. Suspect John Valerio, 20, of Camden, was found to be in possession of brass knuckles and two jars of marijuana.
Martinez was charged with Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Receiving Stolen Property. He was remanded to the county jail with bail set at $80,000 cash or bond. Valerio was charged with Possession of a Weapon (brass knuckles) and Possession of a CDS and remanded to the county jail with bail set at $1,000 cash or bond. A third suspect, Akeyinde Boyd, 37, of Camden, was arrested and remanded to the county jail on outstanding child support and municipal warrants totaling $10,153. Suspect Anthony Clark, 35, of Camden, was issued a municipal summons for public consumption of alcohol.
